Hi,

I chose to go back to a v5 CPU again. I don't understand why a v6 is on the compatibility list at all now. If you want all RAM to show up and still want the max power for that server, go with Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1240 v5 @ 3.50GHz. Tired of experimenting. I really enjoyed HPE for quite some time and I will keep my DL20 Gen8, but I changed over to Dell servers. No paywall keeping me from drivers or updates.

Hello. I have a problem. My HP proliant ML30 Gen9 server does not see all RAM after replacing the processor with a more powerful Intel xeon E3 1275 v6. Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. Help (
Installed 48 Gb, sees 32, 16 in the reserve. Aida64 shows a limit on the north bridge (Intel Kaby Lake-H/S WS IMC) of 32 GB on CPU. Before worked fine with Xeon e3 1220 v5 and seen all 48Gb RAM. With RAM all right. Tested RAM one piece, everything works. Begins to reserve over 32Gb

Did everything possible. (swapped RAM, 2 times rearrange the new processor, check Maximum Memory option at msconfig >boot > advanced options). Update to last BIOS and ILo before replacing the processor.

Well, I can only speak for myself, but I checked the pins from the old one and the new one before I switched. When I put the v5 in, I have all the RAM in my slots and none of them show N/A. I use DDR4 2400 in all four slots. iLO even shows me the full amount of RAM in that window. However, the same N/A in the voltage for the second channel as in that picture from "Efthy" in that forum. (I just bought 2x16GB, so I would have at least 32GB if I can only use one channel) It was 4x4GB before. All of the are 2400.

I have checked the pins also, they seem perfectly alright. I have put in the old cpu (1220 v5) and it sees all the ram again. Only thing left might be incompatible ram, that the system goes into some kind of safe mode if there are problems with the ram. After all this seems to be a system issue... no answer from hpe?
