ML110 G10 Fan Noise after Firmware Upgrade / Installing and removing a NIC

Greetings,

we run a ML 110 Gen 10 with an 4210 CPU, 6x16GB Ram, aP408i-p Smart Array Controller with 5 SAS 900GB 12G HDDs, Sitting in one Bay, 1-4 in Raid 10, 8 as Standby Spare.

Softwarewise we now run Esxi in 7.0.3 VMware ESXi 7.0.3 Build-21930508 Update 3 Patch 95.

The Server was sitting in my Office, running at max 35% Fan Speed on Hot days (26°C Intake - Office has an AC)

Trouble begann because we needed to upgrade to VMWare ESxi 7.0.3 from 7.0.1. One of the VMs required the newer "Hardware"...

After consulting our external IT Support, the choosen path was to let the SPP 2024.04.00.00 run and after that upgrade ESXI.

Additionally we wanted to add 10g Networking with a Hewlett Packard 530SFP+ LAN-Adapter 2x SFP+ PCIe 2.0 x8.
It showed up in ILO but Status was Unkown.

Unfortunatley I had the stuip Idea that it would be a good thing to install the card before runinng the SPP.

Anyways SPP and ESXI completed.

Shortly after one disk changed to failed. HotSpare spun up. After replacing the Raid is healty again.

The Problem is the Fan Speed is now much higher than before the whole procedure. I removed the NIC for good. Yet the fanspeeds wont go down to old levels.

There is no difference between Optimal Cooling and Enhanced CPU Cooling. Fans settle around 30% and 60%.

Firmware:

We tried long power down, confirm propper fit of Dimm and Cards. Dust is cleaned, all baffels are installed.

Any suggestions what to do or where to look would be much welcome...

best regards
