DL180 Gen 9 Processor upgrade from 2609V3 to 2680V4

Hey everyone,

I recently brought a DL180 Gen 9 with a 2609V3 CPU, and I'm trying to upgrade to a 2680V4. After installing the new CPU, I get no display and get system critical warnings from the ILO4 window.

I know I need flash the ME firmware according to this document (https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=c04849981), but I can't find any information anywhere on how to do it. Hell, I can't even find another download for the file except on that page. Really lost, is this something that is possible? Does anyone have a guide / more documentation that I could use on how to install the ME firmware or upgrading to a V4 CPU?

Hi,

As per the QuickSpecs, E5-2609v3 and E5-2680v4 are supported.
If you download the exe or scexe file and Extract, you will see a XML file with some information.
Additionally I found this document.

@Suman_1978 Hey mate,
I’ve tried following this solution but it requires a BIOS ROM pre v2.5, but my setup already has one past that and HP appears to have removed the downloads for all versions pre V2.5. Any suggestions?

You might have to downgrade the BIOS first.

Can you share the details of the BIOS firmware?

Yep, I currently have V2.96, and I need to downgrade. All of the freely avaliable (critical versions) ones below V2.5 have been removed, leaving only versions behind paywalls. This is a pretty critical issue, as you can't actually use any V4 CPUs without an older version of BIOS that is pay walled. I would ask if someone has it, but I assume thats not allowed. Guess I brought a lemon?

for you informations, the system earlier configured with E5-2609v3 PROC, So all the installed HW is compatible for this PROC. Now you upgrade it E5-2680v4 PROC, So you have to upgrade more things to make compatibilty with this PROC. like PSU, FAN, Memory etc. both PROC details shared to bellow. Please check, if you need more detail for your new configuration which you have to upgrade, Please let me know, I will help you to do so.
