adding drive to existing raid 5 array

Hi everyone, I am currently trying to add two drives of the same size to my raid 5 array. As I read online you go to HP smart storage administrator select your logical drive array and click on than manage data drives and there you should have the option to add a drive to the array. In my case that option is absent. How would i go about fixing that.

Currently have 4 drives in raid 5 and want to add 2 more. all of the drives are 4tb drives. further the raid options for strip size are the defaults of hp and I never touched any of the configurations of the p840 itself.

If anyone has some advice it would be really appreciated.

Hi,

If the option is absent, it could be for various reasons like, cabling, firmware, cage, etc.
Please let us know the server model and array controller with firmware version, does this controller has cache module.

@Suman_1978 It has the cache controller. cabbling looks al good to me. the server model is a proliant dl380g9 and the array controller is a P840.
Smart storage battery firmware: 0.60
Smart Array P840 controller firmware: 7.00
Server platform services (SPS) firmware: 3.0.6.267.1
System ROM: P89 v3.02
Redundant System ROM: P89 v2.56
