ML350 Gen 9 PSU making high frequency buzzing sound

Hello all,

I just recently brought an ML350 Gen 9, and the PSU is making a high pitch buzz that sounds like a 60hz main line frequency. I'm unsure to whether this is just coil whine of some sort, or if the PSU is about to die. I've tried googling this, but no one else has mentioned it so I'm unsure if this is apart of normal operation or not. I have no issues under load or other notable symptoms, just one really loud high pitch whine.

Thanks for your help!

Hi @Seanparko ,
Are you sure that the noise is from PSU ? Most common noise issue will be from fan.
     You can follow these steps-
   a) Verify and get confirm on the device from which you are getting the noise.
   b) Update the firmware of the system using the SPP. It will update the firmware of all devices.
   c) Check the power cable and its power reading is proper.
   d) Will the noise will be heard only when the processor or HDD is utilised more.
Regards,
Shiva_JR

The sound can be heard when the machine is turned off, again coming from the PSU. No drives are plug in at all, so that rules that out. I can confirm that its a ML350 Gen 9. Power cable is properly seated, and is reading within acceptable voltage ranges and frequency.

I don't think its the system fans upfront, as the sound can still be heard when its turned off. Any other suggestions?

Seems like there could be some issue with the PSU.

Did you manage to reseat the PSU after unplugging the AC Power cables?

Can you swap the PSUs and isolate if its 1PSU causing the issue or both?
