Please refer the quickspecs page 3 for the capacity.

Up to 240TB of total internal storage with 60 x 4TB LFF SATA hard drives
Up to 24TB of total internal storage with 27 x 900GB SFF SAS hard drives

The HPE Smart Array P420i controller in the ProLiant DL380p Gen8 server supports the following maximum hard drive capacities:

- For SAS Drives: The maximum capacity per drive is 4TB.
- For SATA Drives: The maximum capacity per drive is 6TB.

Check documentation for the P420i to confirm the maximum supported drive sizes and types first. You can find the details in https://support.hpe.com/

You can use up to 8 drives on the P420i. If you have an external storage solution, it may increase your capacity further.

Make sure your controller’s firmware is updated to the latest version for the best support and features.

If you plan to maximize your disk capacity, consider the largest drives currently available (up to 20TB for some SAS drives) and check if they are supported by your controller.
