Hi,

I work with a Proliant DL20 Gen10 Server. Recently we had a power issue on our facility that cause the server to go off without proper shutdown. On rebooting the server I got the POST message ; 490-System Health Error. A critical system health error requires the system to be shut down. When press F9 to go to Utilities and view the IML the server just shuts down. I can't view the log. I can't go past POST. Please how do I deal with this.

Hello,

You may try power drain and see if it helps. To power drain the server, power off the server and remove the power cable from power supplies. After removing the power cables, press and hold the power button to drain the power in the server's system board circuitry.

Regards,

@Kachidota

God day!

Holding the power button for about 30 seconds to 1 minute during a power drain is typically sufficient to discharge any residual power from the system. If you’ve held it for around a minute, that should be long enough.

However, since the issue reappeared, this might indicate that the underlying hardware problem was only temporarily resolved by the power drain. It’s likely that a more persistent issue, like a failing power supply, motherboard, or another critical component, is causing the recurring error.

Let me know what t.s steps you tried so far? So, let me try to help.

We haven' took any action except the power drain. But, when I connect the server to a monitor and start it, there was POST error massages shown "Fan Failure (Fan 1), Location System". I recently open the case try to start the server to see what actually happened. And yes, the Fan 1 somehow runs slower than his other friends. At this point I think I should looking for a new one fan. I've make sure the power cable plugged properly. But I wonder what if I switch Fan 1 with Fan 2, and the result is A fan at "Fan 1" Position still runs slower. What "Location System" means in the POST error massage here? was the Fault was not in the hardware? (I hope so)
