New DL360 gen11, nics do not work with fixed IP

ILO is working fine with a fixed IP. Host OS installed (XCP-ng)

NICs can get DHCP, but will not work with fixed settings. It cannot ping out, and is not discoverable on the network.

Firmware and drivers are recent, January this year. This is my first Gen11 server, have not encountered this with Gen10.

The Intel PCI ethernet adapter is showing status: unknown

Solved: there was no hardware driver for the NIC device. Downloaded and installed.
