Hello.

I have three Proliant DL380 gen 9 machines. Two of them have a TP 1.2 module installed, the third does not have a TPM installed at all, as far as I can tell (per looking at iLO).

It sounds like if you have a 1.2 module installed, you're done, and it's not replaceable (as in, to upgrade to 2.0). Is that correct?

For the one which does not seem to have a TP module install, is it just a matter of buying a 2.0 module and plugging it in? If I wanted 2.0 on all three of the servers, would it take buying new motherboards with no TPMs for the two which are already at 1.2?

Hi @VipevAbraid ,

For the server with TPM installed:

TPM 1.2 module installed on an HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server cannot be upgraded to TPM 2.0. The hardware TPM module is a physical component, and the firmware version (1.2 or 2.0) is tied to the specific module.

On most Gen9 servers, TPM modules are not hot-swappable or user-replaceable.

Hence, To upgrade to TPM 2.0, you would need to replace the entire system board , not just the TPM module.

For the server without any TPM installed:

Yes, you can purchase an HPE TPM 2.0 module and install it on the server that currently does not have a TPM installed provided your system meets the firmware and UEFI requirements.

Compatibility: Ensure you purchase the correct TPM module that is compatible with the ProLiant DL380 Gen9. The part number for the TPM 2.0 module is 719054-B21.

For more information, please find the official compatibility guide for the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server, including TPM module details.

Thank you!

Hope this information has helped you, Please click on the "Thumbs Up/Kudo" icon as a token of appreciation.
