Hi.

After hooking up an external disk (Promise RM15000) to a DL380 I'm getting an event in the eventlog. During the last 10 hours I've got 10 entries.
I've tried flashing to the newest scsi-firmware and the newest bios. Also I have updated to the latest W2k driver.
Any recommendations as to what to try next ?

Event Type: Error
Event Source: cpqarry2
Event Category: None
Event ID: 9
Date: 19-06-2003
Time: 03:13:49
User: N/A
Computer: S49
Description:
The device, \Device\Scsi\cpqarry21, did not respond within the timeout period.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Data:
0000: 00 00 10 00 01 00 6a 00 ......j.
0008: 00 00 00 00 09 00 04 c0 .......??
0010: 01 01 00 50 00 00 00 00 ...P....
0018: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0028: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0030: 00 00 00 00 07 00 00 00 ........

Thanks!
Steen
Ok, the problem is a timeout.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];Q154690

This article takes you through checking the obvious, like SCSI termination, cables, port type etc (by port type I mean work out what you have: SE, LVD or HVD, differential).

Are there any event 11 or 51 messages also? Particularly on the 51 message, check the result code:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;244780&Product=win2000

The last step is to change the timeout to something more reasonable.
