Hi All,

Have ML530.. with 6 x 72Gb disks & 3200(4.32)controller, 3GB Ram running Notes & W2k. In last 3 months has failed every single drive in array. Last night upgraded drivers and agents to v7.0..
Tried to online flash online array controller to 4.50b. Failed.. said revision was too low ??

Tried to upgrade controller via rompaq for array controllers v3.10.. server wouldnt read disk properly.. rebuilt image from download..

Still had problems with allocating Himem.. Came back with checksum error whilst reading array controller.. image didn't match array controller..

Has anyone come across this problem before ??

look forward to any responce..

john

I would...

format a new floppy (don't select quick)

download and make a new option rompaq diskette(s)

reduce the memory in the server to 512mb or 1gb and try again

Hi. Stephen..

Thanks for the quick answer..

Reformatted diskette last night.. rebuilt image from download... didn't think to pull memory.. most of our servers have 2 GB ram and we've never had problems doing firmware upgrades before. I'll try and schedule some more downtime & see if we can get the work done..

Thanks

john

When we've had multiple drive failures on a single system in a short amount of time it usually turned out to be a bad backplane. All these failed drives on the same backplane?
