We have recently powered off one of our clients' SCO servers for relocation after 4 years of stable operation. On powering back on, we started getting a message that read:

H iinit
PANIC: srmountfun - Error 22 mounting rootdev hd (1/42)
Cannot dump 130975 pages to dumpdev hd (1/41): Space for only 0 pages

Dump not completed

NOTICE: Flushing HPNETRAID Adapter(s)

followed by a request to power off.

Please advise urgently. Thanks.

Hi,

I am not too good at SCO th error you are refering to is relevent to sco only.
Just to validate the hdd and raid status use Ctrl + M option at boot that will able to help you with raid problems.

Regards,
Prashant S.
Thanks for that.

I had a feeling it had to be a termination issue from what I had read on the SCO site previously, and I tried the following:

Changed the SCSI channel from A to B, same error.
Changed the SCSI cable (terminated), same error.
Changed from 1 server to another (in case hot swap backplane faulty), same error.

And this is where I am stuck for now... Please advise.
SCO is/was configured to look for a specific mount point (/dev/sdc ??). If you move to another adapter or channel, SCO will not no where to look to mount it.

If the error is consistant across multiple adapters (IE from the internal Netraid to another SCSI adapter) then I would be suspect of the drive itself....

I forget the exact sco command but try:

boot -single

then try fsck on the volume....
or try

boot -scsiprobe (or -probe I forget) and then reboot...
