Management Agents for Servers for Linux - No > Red Hat 7.3 support?

Hi list,

The machine is a Proliant 5500 with dual PIII-500 XEON's, BIOS P12.

Attempting to load the Compaq management agents for servers for Linux gives a "ERROR: the Linux OS/version running on your system is not supported!" error when running on anything other than Red Hat 7.3.

This is expected as the readme at "/mnt/cdrom/agents/linux/eng/compaq/cmafdtn/readme" does state the "Compaq Foundation Agents - Linux" Version 5.50.0, August 8, 2002, are for Red Hat Linux 7.3 Professional.

The program I am running is: "/mnt/cdrom/agents/linux/eng/compaq/install", from the Insight Manger 7 SP1 Version 3.1.1 CD.

Is there a newer version of the hardware monitoring agents available which works with newer version of Red Hat, such as 9.0 and Fedora Core 1 (the machine is a test platform mostly)? Is the source available for compiling?

Is there another way to get detailed information about this Proliant 5500 hardware for logging or remote monitoring?

Hi Brian,

IML (Integrated Management Log) which contains information on hardware health and POST error messages is one way.

I am looking for management agents for you and shall post them to you once I find them. I would say the best method would be through the management agents.

Are you using Survey Utility?

I may be missing something, but how do I view the IML? There does not seem to be IML viewers for the Proliant 5500 running Red Hat 9 or Fedora Core 1 (or for RHEL 3 Kernels).

Please let me know when you find management agents which work with the 5500 and newer version of RH/Fedora.

I am using the survey utility, but it does not show any IML information.
