I need to add a Large amount of disk space, but don't want to use SCSI. I can't seem to get an ATA card in the system (int 13 problems).
Anyone have experience with SATA drives working with an adaptec controller? I already have a raid on this system, and want to add an additional IDE raid (at least mirrored). Any help would be greatly appreciated..

hi,

as I understand from your query, you want to add an addtional IDE RAID card in your system. As I know, it's a limitation of IDE structure that you can't have more than two IDE channels( one controller only) in one system. so, i think it's not possible to add an extra IDE card. you may configure RAID 1+0 in your existing ATA card , but in dl 360, you can have only two HDDs internally, so, it's up to you how to arrange other HDDs to be connected to your server.

regards,

I agree that we don't know how you will get it done, an external enclosure, with SATA power cable and power supply I guess. But you should be able to add the controller that loads a BIOS, like the Adaptec and other IDE RAID cards. As long as they load a BIOS you should be fine.
WHat is it that you are trying to install that you have problems with? int13 you said
