I'm trying to configure a Proliant 3000 with a COMPAQ Smart Array 3200. The array must be configured before i can use it.

I don't have a SmartStart CDRom, so i can't use it. On the downloadpage (see link at bottom of message) i only can find a Windows 2000 Array Configuration Utility. Not one witch i can use without windows.

How can i configure the Smart Array 3200 without any OS installed?

Link to page: http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/20_1112.html

Roel:

The Smart Array 3200 card cannot be configured via the diskette version that Compaq created long ago. The only real way to config an array on this or any later version of the Smart Array family is through SmartStart Array Configuration Utility.

You can order a CD from HP for like $25.00 shipped. This CD is well worth the cost of the purchase as it contains all the tools you will need to configure the rest of the ProLiant 3000 you have.

Here is a link to the Smart Start website:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/subscription/PSM_subscription.html

Be sure to ask for and get "SmartStart 5.50."
This is the version that will support the ProLiant 3000. The later versions will not work in the PL3000 server.

G'luck! -john
