Replacing Smart Array Controller

I have a proliant 3000 with a SA 3200. The controller went bad but the hard drives (RAID 5) are OK. Will my data remain intact when I replace the controller?

Some Smart Array's automatically read the drives and re-configure themselves acocording to the configuration stored on them. The 3200 is slightly older, but I think it still does this. If so, your data will be there afterwards.

Someone out here probably has had first hand experience. I know it works with SA 5i controllers and the like.

If you are going to replace the SmartArray 3200 Controller with another 3200 controller, there should be no data loss problems. If you are going to purchase a different controller, please refer to this document which explains the migration path for SmartArray Controllers.

If the nature of the failure from the first controller is such that there may have been corruption, then you will only know when the system boots up.
