topic Processor fried? in ProLiant Servers (ML,DL,SL)

Processor fried?

Grrr after so many flipping problems i've now received my latest error on post that i cant get around...

Error "Processor in incorrect slot - system halted".

What does this mean? the processor is fine, well, was fine, sitting in the slot fine etc...

Is there a reset or something that might fix this?

Ben:

Do you have one or two processors installed in the server?

If you only have one processor installed, move the processor to the other slot as well as the Processor Power Module.

If you have two processors installed, make sure each is seated completely as well as each Processor Power Module. Each processor needs a PPM.

I have the dual processor edition, i've moved each processor around including the PPM and still getting the same error, though once i did have another error saying the processor regulator was on the blink...

Ben:

Make sure the processor heat sink is not getting in the way of fully seating the processor. Make sure the PPM for both processors is seated well. There are plastic tabs that should "click" into place when the PPM is inserted.

If you do get the system to boot, be sure to re-run the System Configuration Utiltiy!

hi,
it seems that one of the processor/PPM/ processor slot is not functioning properly ( most probably, the first processor slot). if you have reseated firmly all the thing ( processors/PPMs ) , please run the SCU, and check "set CPU corrected". once you have done so, after reboot, you can see wether both processors are working or not..
