I have a DL760 G1 that used to have a 5300 controller in it. I have added 4 drives and tried to boot. When it initialized the integrated controller, it says there are no drives attached to it.

I have opened this puppy up and reseated everything. From what I can tell the back of the drive cage connects to the system board. There is then a connector by the PCI slots with a board attached and a SCSI cable coming from it, that used to connect to the 5300.

What do I need to do to get the integrated controller to see the drives.

Oh, I have put the 5300 back in and it saw the drives no problem.

Am I missing a connection somewhere?

Thanks!!!

The small chip with the scsi cable is the array bypass board; it is used to connected the backplane to a pci controller. If you want to use the embedded controller, you need to remove the bypass board and use the array enable board; it similar to the bypass board but has no cable. It ships standard with the sever and would have been removed when the 5300 was installed.

FYI ...

I never did find the board. Ended up using a 5300 instead.

Thanks for your help.

Chris

Vijay,

Just noticed you posted images.

Per the pics, we did have the integrated already on board, but it wasn't working, tried about 3 of them, no luck.
