Hi Tarek,

Thanks for the advice.

Do you think I might be able to create a new logical drive 3 and then spanned it across to existing logical drive 2? Will this work?

Could someone please help me with a problem I am having with extending the size of logical drive. Previously I had 4 x 36GB drives which I have replaced with all 146GB drives one by one. Now I have 421GB free but can not extend logical drive 2 to more than 261,116KB (existing size of the logical drive is 96,517KB dynamic). I am using Windows Server 2000, and Array COnfiguration Utility version 7.15.19.0. Is this a limitation of array controller 3200 or server?

screen shot is enclosed for detailed info.

Thanks in advance.
Safdar

Hi Safdar:

maybe be you should look at these advisories

- you cannot extend logical drive to be bigger than its original size on some controllers and ACU.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=PSD_EX020717_CW01

there was a limit of 255 cannot exceed if the drive was created on older controllers and with older ACU.

- I think that your problem here; that you have exceeded your original logical drive size; and if you have older parity info you could not change that size of the parity;

only thing to do now is to go back to the other drives.

and then remove all drives; and create new array and restore from backup.

Best regards,

Tarek.

Sure you can;

but this would be a Software solution

- Each logical drive will be one physical drive in windows.

example: logical drive 1 ; will be disk 0
logical drive 2 ; will be disk 1
logical drive 3 ; will be disk 2

so consult MS on how to do that; or you will need to use a 3rd party Pation software.

Tarek.
