I don't know what is with ml150, but other little bit bigger servers (ML/DL 3xx, 5xx, 7xx) do not support connecting other devices to IDE controller.
regards,
Andrzej

Hi,
my ML 150 has a built-in IDE, which normally connects the CD-ROM. I wanted to add a second device, but whatever I tried, it did not recognise any device type as slave device.
I put in a CD-ROM drive, a DVD drive, a harddisk - they all worked fine as master device, but not as slave - neither by "cable select" nor by direct master/slave jumpering.

Any ideas?
Or is the BIOS set to only allow >one< device on this internal IDE?
thx
uli

Hi have you checked your cable you're using for connecting both device?
Are you using ata100 cable?

I have did some research but i haven't found anything stating it's supported or not.

Can you see in the bios regarding the ide primary - secondary settings?

Hi Tv,

I've used the cable which came with the system, and I've tried another one (but did not check for ata100).

When looking at the BIOS menu, it shows only "IDE master" and then the currently connected master device type (e.g. CD-ROM, my disk type, ...), but there is no sign of "IDE slave" - and there is no spot in the bios which allows modifying anything in connection with IDE.
thx.
uli
Try to use Original Cable with CS (cable Select only if two devices Used).
http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/showphoto?partnumber=344677-003
ATA cable should have three connectors. Some CS cables have one wire interrupted (1-2mm hole).
Reset Bios to defaults also verify if it up to date
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/20961.html
