Hi ,

i have a Proliant server (DL380 G4) .

i 'd like to install 12 Go of memory !

Does somebody can help me to determine what is the memory compatibility between
2*512 Mo (part number = 343055-B21 , PC2 PC3200 DDR2) and 2048 Go (PC2 PC3200 DDR2)?
Is it memory compatibility totally ? or Not ?

PC3200 DDR2 compatible with others PC3200 DDR2
From your notes 512 appears HP branded, 2Gb no info, normally there is no problem with mixing different brands, just follow identical pairs over Bank.
If there will be any problem a POST errors will be noticed
Verify System ROM / BIOS if latest

Also to get to the point of 12Gb you will require to remove 512, so there will be no mixing.
6 x 2Gb=12

In fact ,

my goal is to add :

2 * 2 Go Dual rank memory (Dane-elec memory)
and
4 * 1Go Single rank memory (HP memory)
on a DL380 G4 proliant server !

Which is your opinion ?
