I have tried with ESX 2.5.1 first. Now I'm going to try with 2.5.2 and 2.5.3. The hardware is the same because I haven't installed the two QLogic 2340 per server yet. When you are prompted to select which kind of instalation I give an intro (normal instalation) and it is were it hangs, with black screen.

Thanks,

Hi
I'm trying to install a VMware ESX 2.5 in two Proliant DL380 G4. One of them is installed correctly changing in bios MPS Table Mode to Full Table APIC. The other is also change but I can't install de ESX. The unique way to install is doing the install no apic. Both server has the same bios P51.

Some months before I bought another Proliant DL380 G4 with the same hardware and I didn't have any problem to install it. So I think that there is a problem with the new firmware. So is possible to downgrade the firmware to another version?. Or is any other posibility to install the ESX but not with non apic option?.

Thanks in advance,

Shalom,

Totally wrong forums for this.

If the BIOS is still available from HP, you can flash back to the version that is the same as the server that works.

You should be sure first that this is a BIOS related issue and not something else.

SEP

not sure if the BIOS is a problem here as it's worked on one machine ....

is the vmware media different here ? cd,iso ? could it be corrupt ?

at what point during or in post installation do you encounter problems ... ? do you receive some form of hang or error ?

I'd say your most likely may get better results here (see url) but I see you beat me to it http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?messageID=393110ﾖ

what version of ESX 2.5 or 2.5.?

Also to add http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/resources/esx_resources.html so is the h/w in the DL380's exactly the same spec ?

good luck !
