DL100 Server can install Veritas Backup Software

Any one can help me to clarify DL100 can install as backup server such as DL380, which used Veritas.

In theory - yes, as there is MS Win 2003 Storage Server running on the DL100.

However HP reccommends using CommVault software on the DL100 G2:
"HP has qualified CommVault Systems to provide simplified and cost-effective data management and protection solutions for HP ProLiant Storage Server customers"
(taken from QuickSpec)

Any experience on Veritas and DL100, since customer want must use Veritas!

I dont know if you can install Symantec backup Exec directly onto the server (dont see why not). But I use the remote agent to good affect to backup the data on a DL100 G2 1TB.

I assume you mean to use a DL100 as a media server.

The bigger question is this..

Does the server in question support your backup method? You will likely need a supported SCSI card and Tape drive.

You should be more interested in checking HP and Veritas HCLs, to locate a tape drive which is certified with both the hardware and the software.

Don't skip this. Veritas is a massive pain with any tape drive they don't support. That said, the rest of the hardware doesn't make a lot of difference to them.
