Hello Shay,

Assuming this is a generation 1 server, the largest drive I see available as a "tested" option is a 36GB.

That being said, most servers will work with any hard drive of the same specifications and size. Now that I said that, in no way is that a guarantee.

It's an "at your own risk" procedure. The odds are it will work, but you might want to be aware of such things as power consumption of the big drive.

Basically the reason you don't see a 72 or 146 gb drive listed for this server, is due to it not being "tested" however it may be perfectly fine.

Hope this helps
Chris

Shalom Shay,
If you talk about ML570 G1:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/10633_div/10633_div.html#Storage
As you can see 72 and 144 Gb drives listed as supported
You can use even 300 Gb drives without problems.
Of course all U320 drives will work at U2/U3 speeds on G1 server.

P.S. When you get answers on this forum, is good to assign point to the answers. In this way you thank the people for their help.
Check this link:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/helptips.do?#28

Shay

It is always a good idea to install the latest firmware. This can be found here http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/20_1116.html#105

There is an iso image that can be downloaded and burned to cd that will upgrade all necessary components. This will make a bootable disc.

Carl
