Hi,

I need to install a parallel port into a ProLiant DL320.
Is there a Compaq card available ?

I have found various 3rd party suppliers, however none appear to produce a card which will fit in the 64-bit PCI slot used in the DL320.

This will potentially leave me with 8 brand new DL320s which I cannot use.
The software which needs to run on the servers uses a hardware key which plugs into the parallel port...

Regards,

Rob Leadbeater
LYNX Express Limited

I have the same problem. I have a SC that needs a HI key on the parallel port and I am trying to buy a card to use it.
The only cards that I have found are PIC 32 bits and if I try to use one of them I can not close the upper lid of the equipment as they are oriented not to the back of the server but to the front so the output is inside the equipment.
Is there any adapter to change the position of the cards?
Is there any model to fit inside the equipment?
Thanks

Hi Fernando,

Contrary to what the chap from Compaq says, a 32 bit card will not fit in a 64 bit slot, as you have discovered. Having spoken to many suppliers of third party parallel cards we drew a complete blank - nobody makes a 64 bit PIC Parallel card.

In the end we had to replace the DL320's with DL380's. Which is a real shame as we also had to have an extra rack to stick all the equipment in, being 3U rather than 1U :-(

Regards,

Rob Lead beater
LYNX Express Limited
