Do both of the controllers do the same thing (not being detected during POST)? If there are 2 with the same problem I would suspect either something having to do with maintenance taking place (firmware updates or something similar) or a possible power problem. Are both the servers with the problem running off of conditioned power?

If its a brand new server sometimes you need to reseat the SA or the Backplane, another option is that the card was DOA(Death on arrival)

Hello, before doing anything further, like replacing the card you can try with a few but simple troubleshooting steps, for example you can Download and run the latest FW maintenance CD and have it to upgrade all the FW in your server, you can try different slot locations and reseating the backplane and cables. Thanks

FW CD
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/24777.html

All SW and drivers for your server W2K
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/20_2588.html

All SW and drivers for your server W2K3
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/69_2588.html

Cheers
