Hello Brad,

Looks like you are doing a manual install and Windows OS base media does'nt have the device driver for SA 5i controller.

Boot through the SSCD which will load the 5i drivers, configure array, select Win 2k and place the OS base media when asked.

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/25190.html

SRH

G'day all,

I seem to be having trouble getting Windows 2000 Advanced Server to load on a second hand DL360 G2 I bought the other day.

Current conditions:

1. Server starts and runs through POST screen with no troubles.
2. Green "drum" LEDs light up on both 36GB drives and information on the screen and in RAID set up indicate that both physical and logical drives are available.
3. Windows loads all drivers at the beginning of the set up procedure but when it asks the installer (ie: Me) if I want to install Windows, I press ENTER to install and then am told that Windows cannot find any physical drives.
4. Windows CD is known to be good.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Brad.

Hi Brad,

As Sandeep has pointed out, Windows 2000 doesn't have the driver for your Smart Array controller so it can't see the disks if it can't speak to the controller.

As an alternative to Smartstart install, you can download the Smart Array driver to floppy and install using F6 when loading Windows 2000. (Instructions on this page)

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/24794.html

Once you have loaded the O/S you can apply the Proliant Support Pack (PSP) for Windows 2000. This loads all the Compaq/HP drivers for embedded and add-on controllers.

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/24183.html

These two actions are roughly equivalent to a Smartstart install from scratch. If you need any individual drivers, firmware or BIOS for your DL360G2 after that look here.

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/20_2543.html

I hope this helps.

Brian
