Does anyone know some specific links where i can get a good graphics card that fits the proliant 6400r server. The graphics card must be able to use 3d graphics I tried to play a game with the 3d rage but this is the error message i received. ATI Technologies Inc. 3D RAGE IIC PCI:

This video card does not support HW T&L (Hardware accelerated Transform & Lighting). Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising requires a video card that supports HW T&L, and therefore will not run on this device

This video card does not support multitexturing. Multitexturing is required in order to properly view the 3D game environment.

A 6400 should, or may have some standard PCI slots. That would be your only option.

I do not have the quickspecs in front of me at the moment so I can;t say for sure.

In the meantime, look for the oldest pci graphics card you can find that supports HW T&L and I will try to find the quickspecs (or someone will) and see what is usable.

Do you have the model number?

Steven

Hi,

This server supports Compaq QVision 2000 and Compaq QVision 2000 Plus video cards which have 2MB graphics memory.
The Proliants 6400r series are entry level servers and would support very limited and entry level components.

Basicall the system board would not support the latest video cards.

Refer these:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/10047_div/10047_div.html#TechSpecs

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/ProLiant6400R/description.html#specs

Hope this explains!!!!!

Regards,
rmn

That is correct. Without an AGP slot, you are quite limited in what is still available in PCI. No one makes PCI Graphics cards anymore, to slow. Sorry.
We use NVidia PCI cards but I think they are 4500's or something and you would have the same issue as with the RAGE II

I've already told you in another thread: Servers are Servers!! they are meant to SERVE clients and applications.

Wanna play: www.alienware.com.. by the way, you should also visit www.macromedia.com...

www.chongkan.com

The server has a lot of processing power but it's architecture is made to improve storage and communications transfer ratings, not for gaming or designing, nobody says hey, lets spend more time programing the firmware so some guys can plug video cards and play games on our servers...

Here:

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/ProLiant6400R/index.html

What I said about Alienware.. I'm no saying go buy on AW, I'm saying go read those computers specs and you'll understand..
