Hello,
I've got Proliant ML370 G3 server with 2 disks on raid 0 and Win2000 pre-installed.

Decided to upgrade to Win2003 by formatting present disks and doing a clean install. Ran the smart start cd and it just hung at the stage where it should format the disks.

On resetting and re-starting the server, i got a message that the array controller has locked up.

Please how do I fix this?

Thanks.

Hello Karlo,

There's no number used to describe the error.

The server doesn't freeze, it just doesn't recognise the disks (so it tries to boot by PXE).

Thanks.

Hi,

First update firmware of the server with firmware maintainance CD 7.9., so the latest System ROM and controller ROM are flashed.

Then power down the server, take all HDDs out & start the server without HDDs(remember which one was in which slot).
Wait until the controller is initialized, turn off server plug the HDDs again and start the server.
While the server is off, you can follow Karlo's advices - taking the controller out, then putting it again in, checking connections, battery & cache.

This must resolve the issue.

Regards,
Pac

Hi again,

you say that the server rebooted by formatting the HDDs.
If you boot from Smartstart and go in ACU, do you see the HDDs?

If so, try installing the OS again.

Regards
