We have upgraded our DL380 G3 server to 6 GB RAM, 2x2 GB sticks + 2x1 GB sticks. The BIOS recognizes 6 GB given but only initializes 5.5 GB of RAM, we have even down graded to 5GB, but then it only initializes 4.5 GB of RAM, so we lose 512 of RAM when we add additional RAM. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Hi,

In the online spare configuration, the ROM automatically configures the last populated back as the spare memory. If only banks A and B are populated, bank B is the spare bank. If banks A, B, and C are populated, bank C is the spare bank, Online spare memory is configured through RBSU.

Check if the Online Spare option is enabled

Can you post the exact model number of the server so we can determine the Front Side Bus speed?
