DL 385 G2 doesn't shutdown on Win2003 server

I can't get this server to shutdown thru win2k3 even when i select shutdown, select an option(Planned hardware maintenance), and add a comment. It just restarts/reboots server. The only way to shut it down is to manually push the power button off when it tries to reboot. What is going on here? I do have the PSP 7.87 installed, so not sure if that was causing it. Also, the ILO2 is disabled. Thanks for any info!!!

Has anyone tried to just revert to PSP 7.7 and it allowed for shutdown?

Ok. Here is what i noticed. I have PSP 7.8. If i enable the other nic port that i'm not using, it will shut down normally. If i disable the other unused port, it will reboot. I guess the solution is to enable the other port eventhough it is not currently being used.

hi

instead of installing PSP 7.7 and seeing is something related with NIC Cards, install this NIC Card Driver
let me know what is your NIC but I think is this one NC373i, so try this

HP NC-Series Multifunction Driver for Windows Server 2003
version 2.8.22.0 (18 Dec 06)

- unistall driver from both cards
- reboot
- install the new driver
- disable the card you are not using and try to shutdown the server

I didn't have a chance to do this. The server was shipped out to client site. I will try it on a new server that i am going to start on soon. Thanks.
