Nope; Speed, Steping & Family needs to be the same. Also, update the Rom BIOS before the upgrade.

Regards.

I have a Proliant ML 370 G4 and would like to add an addition processor. The Current Processor is a Xeon 3.2ghz/2M/800 I would like to add a Xeon 3.8. Is this possible or would there be a conflict with two different processor speeds?

hi

Happy Dude is right.

Customer Advisory
Mixing Processors with Different Speeds, Cache Sizes, Number of Cores, or Rated Maximum Power Consumption Is Not Supported in ProLiant 300/400/500-Series Servers.

http://urlao.com/o3pcr

the only thing supported if the processors have a difference in stepping(minor changes in processor), for example

Intel Pentium III Processor 1.40 GHz
Stepping: SL657

Intel Pentium III Processor 1.40 GHz
Stepping: SL6BY

but the they are the same speed. So in those cases the recommendation is upgrade System ROM

regards

hi
so what you can do is only install the 3.8 - buy another 3.2 or of course buy another 3.8

regards
