Has anyone had any problems loading Sles9.3 on an hp proliant ml370 g5? It does not see an HDD upon the detection. I grabbed a known good sas drive from another type of proliant and it gets the same reaction.
HELP!!!

The problem seems to be because the SUSE 9.3 is not able to load the drivers for the array controller. The server should have either Smart Array P400 or E200 controller. Only when you supply the drivers for the controller using a Floppy Drive, setup will be able to recognize the hard disks.

There are no drivers for SUSE 9.3 for this server. So it would be very tough to get this installed. You could try the drivers available for SLES 9. However, I would recommend that you use one of the supported operating systems.

Supported Linux operating systems are:
RHEL 3, 4 & 5.
SLES 8, 9 & 10.

Cheers!

SLES9 SP3 does not have a cciss driver that supports this SMart Array controller. You need to download a driver disk to use during install, or load SLES9 SP4 which has a newer release of the cciss driver included

SLES9 SP3 x86
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=1121474&prodNameId=3279719&swEnvOID=1110&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-9580dcfcd943421784905cb440

SLES9 SP3 x86_64
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=1121474&prodNameId=3279719&swEnvOID=2007&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-55a3ac8502ef4544b5f69652f0
