We bought a new DL585G2 (2xCPU) with built-in 4x1GB memory and additional 2x2GB memory. There are 2x1GB populated on 1A, 2A (for CPU1), and the other 2x1GB populated on 9E, 10E (for CPU2). According to the memory configuration rules, how to add the additional 2x2GB? I couldn't find information about it on the HP website. Could someone help to advice how to do it? Thanks

hi

first of all memory needs to be installed in pairs that's why there are 2 and 2 x 1 GB for every processor so I hope you have 4 modules of 2 GB
so if that is the case you must follow this procedure

You have to start the order using modules with the largest capacity first. First means the slots furthest from the processor

Proc 1
1A - 2A 2 GB module each one
3B - 4B 1 GB module each one

Proc 2
9E - 10E 2 GB module each one
11F - 12F 1 GB module each one

also check the picture I attached and this link

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12575_na/12575_na.html#Memory

regards
Hi Karlo,

the problem is I don't have 4x2GB, what I have is 4x1GB plus 2x2GB, totally 8GB memory, not 12GB. What do you suggest in this case?

hi

in that case insert those 2x 2 GB for the processor 1 and the 4 x 1 GB for the processor 2

4 GB for each processor ;-)

regards
