Generate a dump file and call Microsoft? Thats normally been the best route we've gone through to get resolutions regarding any ASR.

Hi guys

Thanks for the feedback.

Firmware is up-to-date. Also, latest service packs applied.

Can't generate memory dump. Even though server is configured for this, no dump is generated during ASR.

Thanks
John

Some servers (e.g. DL580 G4) have an NMI button on the main board for generating a dump. Call HP and see what your options are.

Just an update.

We came to suspect some HP HBAs installed in this server.

HP came back to us and said that these were part of a bad batch.

They replaced the whole lot and, since then, things have been just fine.

BTW. Could find no refernce to Error 183. Even in the troubleshooting guide for this particular model. Anyone know if there is a comprehensive error code reference? Or is this just not on.

Thanks again.

John

Do you happen to have any details on what that "bad batch" meant from HP? Was there any defining criteria (serial numbers, etc) or a service bulletin they utilized to identify the problem HBAs?

We experienced an ASR on one of ours and we're engaging HP on root cause.

Afraid not. They just told us that the HBAs were "part of a bad batch" and went ahead and sent us replacements.

The new ones work just fine and we've experienced no further problem.

John
PS
Prior to replacement, they did ask us to run a reporting tool (which they sent us) and email them back the output. The utility's name is HPSRPT_Enhanced_v7[1].3.14-x86.exe.
