hi

I don't get something here

I get like you want to migrate your RAID 0 to RAID 1
"73GB (Raid 0)
: C Drive (O/S : Windows 2003)"

why are you talking about D:? you say D: is RAID 5...

if you want to migrate your RAID 0 OS to RAID want you must backup your RAID 0 since RAID 5 - D - it's not going to be touch

also migration activities you just migrate and that's all that is an on the fly procedure you don't need even reboot server

regards

ML570 G3

73GB (Raid 0)
: C Drive (O/S : Windows 2003)
300GB * 6EA (Raid 5)
: D Drive
(Oracle Database 10g : Engine, Data file)

Current status is like above. I have one more 73GB disk and I want to use it as O/S disk.
It means I’d like to change raid status from Raid0 to Raid1 about O/S.

I’ll try to use third party software (Acronis, Ghost) and get the O/S image file to D-Drive. And then add 73GB disk to migrate raid 1 (mirror).

Let’s arrange job sequences.

1. Backup with third party software
(Acronis or Ghost)
2. Backup image will be located at D-Drive.
3. Add 73GB disk and migrate raid 1 (mirror).
4. Recover Raid 1 with backup image.

Is it possible to do this job?
I think raid controller is the problem.
I’m worried about the thirty party software couldn’t recognize the raid controller.

Let me know the best way to finish this job or recommend another ways.
Thank you in advance.

I mean I don't want to install O/S again
I'd like to add 73GB disk and convert to raid-1 environment about O/S(C-Drive).

So after I changed it,
the environment is like below

73GB * 2EA (Raid 1)
: C Drive (O/S : Windows 2003)
300GB * 6EA (Raid 5)
: D Drive
(Oracle Database 10g : Engine, Data file)

Thank you. ^^

yes

RAID 0 OS to RAID 1 OS

yes you can do it, backup it is just a good practice in case something comes up

but I done several migrations and never got a issue, migrating preserve the data.

I mean you do the migration you won't have to recover any data since the data in OS will still be there migration activity does not delete data

regards
