I want to practice ILO features for testing purposes and I can use an ML350 G3 server in a lab environment.
What support of ILO features can I expect from my ML350 G3 server?
Have I to check for any additional HW component?
What ILO level(s) can I implement without adding HW components?
Regards
Mario

Hi Mario,

Karlo is correct. The ML350 G3 has no inbuilt ILO capabilities.

You need to install a RILOE II module into the 32 bit PCI slot (PCI SLot 5) as this slot has the 30-pin connector near to it on the system board. The 30-pin cable from the RILOE II module to the system board allows the keyboard/mouse and AUX power to the RILOE II board. The cable is also required for Virtual media use. Without this cable the card won't get power or have full functionality.

I hope this helps,

Brian
Give my ML350 G3 has not the required HW, is there any way to practice ILO features (for pure testing purposes), maybe using a virtual machine?
Regards
Mario
no there is not

and by the way what do you mean by practice?

once ilo configured it's like RDP (basically is having access to another server's desktop)nothing too much to do or practice really

regards

Thank you for your answer.
I do know RDP, but I'd like to see what I can do with ILO, mainly with a stopped server.
Anyway, if it's not possible I won't waste more time an I'll just read the documentation...
Regards
Mario
