DVD Drive on Win2K3

I am trying to back up some data onto a DVD from a Proliant DL360G5 Server. After placing either a DVD+R or DVD-R disc into the drive the system does not see the media via explorer. Error message states that the drive is not accessible. What could be the issue? Driver? Media?

You cannot see an empty media in explorer - it's empty!

Check your drive capabilities and media information for example with Neros info tool:

What service pack are you running on the server? and is it R2?

Last I heard there was no driect to DVD support, like there is for a regular CD. You can ony use 3rd party software to write to DVD.

Are you trying to use 3rd party software to write to the dvd? or just trying to do it from Windows Explorer?

I would like to just use Windows Explorer like you can for a CD. However, I am starting to think that you are correct with the idea that you MUST use a 3rd Party tool to write to a DVD.
