Hi,

I have had a similar problem this last week. I had a 1600 fail and had to restore onto a ML370. The 1600 was using symc810.sys but the ML used cpq32fs2.sys.

To fix this I installed a mini copy of NT onto the ML370 into a directory called winntrep on a FAT partition. I then used the backup software to restore onto the partition the 1600's full system partition. After this i booted to a dos boot disk and renamed the symc810.sys out of the way in the 1600's copy of NT. After that i copied the cpq32fs2.sys from winntrep to the 1600's nt install but called it symc810.sys. This let the system boot so I could run the Compaq System Software program to upgrade all the drivers and to fix my disk controller.

Hope this is a help to you

Stevoon

I have several 1600s running NT 4 terminal server with the cpq32fs2 SCSI driver. I want to add a SCSI driver, but when I open the SCSI adapter applet in control panel and select 'drivers', I get an 'error getting driver list from .INF file'. I can click 'OK', but when I go to add a driver, I do NOT get the 'Have Disk' button. Server is running fine, but problem exists on all 1600s with the cpq32fs2 configuration.

what you need to do to install the driver properly is download and run CP000744.exe which is listed as the Compaq 32-Bit SCSI Controller Driver for Windows NT 4.0. This will install the driver properly

I know that only one instance of a driver is required, but are you saying that the driver I have on my 1600 should already work on a DL360 RAID controller?

One step at a time. My 1600s use cp000744/cpq32fs2; my dl360s use
cp000742/cpqarry2. I want to test moving my NT installation from a 1600 to a dl360. To do this, I thought I would need to add the DL360 driver to the 1600 server before it is imaged so the image can be moved to and boot on a 360. Normally, I would go to the SCSI Adapters applet in CP, and add the driver, but I don't have a 'Have Disk' button. If there is an easier (or any) way to do this, please explain.
