Product Number and Product ID

Hi,

What is the difference between the Product Id and the Product number?

The warrenty lookup page asks for the Product Number and will not take the Product ID.

Also does anyone know where to find a list of the product numbers. Are they specific to the type of server?

I'm not sure what you have used as product-id, but if I search for example for a BL860c blade server, I use the product number AD217A read from the servers ID tags in iLO.

In fact with partsurfer

you enter for example DL380G4 you get your HP model number which is in fact as I understand you product id.

Hi,

You could have for 1 model of server, many type of server so many product id.

If this is what you used as product id

HP ProLiant DL585 Generation 5 (G5)

now look what product numbers it can have:

and much, much more depending on what options are installed ...

Read the product number from the label or smh or iLO.

Thanks for the fast responses.

Unfortunatley I don't work near any of these servers, most are in Europe and Asia, so getting the product number off the boxes is rather differcult.

I was just wondering if their might be a easier way to get it.
