I have an HP Proliant ML350 T06 SAS LFF CTO Chassis (483448-B21)server with five 146GB harddrives. It has the embbeded Smart Array P410I Controller. I want to install Windows 2003 on the box. How do you make Windows OS see all 5 drives. Cause at the moment it only allows me to create two logical drives ONLY. I want five logical drives. Thanks.

> It has the embbeded Smart Array P410I Controller

Are you sure? The ML350 comes with the E200i controller with 64MB cache and you can only create raid 0/1/1+0. And with 5 disks at most you can do 2 mirrored pairs which explains what you are saying. The 5th disk can not be used, it can be set up as a hot spare.
You need to upgrade the E200i to 128MB with BBWC to be able to do RAID5.

Now even with 2 mirrored pairs, you should be able to create more logical drives. You probably max-ed out the logical drive on each mirrored pair and used up the whole space. If you make the logical drives smaller, you should be able to create more of them.

Yes am very sure it has an embedded Smart Array P410i its an ML350 G6 server.

Same story with the ML350G6 and P410i. The default configuration has the P410i with zero memory and RAID0/1/1+0 only. You need 256MB or 512MB cache and BBWC to be able to do raid5. See the ML350 quickspecs and the "Storage Controllers" section
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13241_div/13241_div.html

The 483448-B21 is the base configuration server. It does not explicitly say P410 with zero cache but the 491193-B21 (256MB BBWC) is available as an upgrade. That means that the default P410 has zero cache.

> is there a place I can check for the memory on the controller

If you have ACU installed, you should be able to list all the controller features and the status.

> Can P410i make all disks visible to Windows OS without RAID?

No. Even if you want to use them as single disks you have to create RAID0 on them. If you are thinking about moving the disks to other servers and still be able to use them see this thread http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1369171
