Hi,

I have a DL360 G5 with a smartarray controller P400i/256MB. I already have one logical unit with 3 disk SAS 146GB in RAID5.

Im getting out of free space so im installing a 4th disk of the same capacity.

Im trying to expand the logical unit but in the ACU interface im not getting the option to do the operation. Im only able of creating a new logical unit with the new disk

what can be happening

the firmware version of the p400i is 4.06

hi,

i think is not possible to extend RAID5 from 3 disks to the 4 disk configuration without building a new configuration and installation the server again.

The P400 has ALL the array expansion features. If they are not available in your screen as you say, check the status of the battery. If the battery is bad, the cache feature gets disabled and so are all these online array expansion features.

Yes it can make the expansion. It does not let you because maybe the battery is dead.
Check the battery.

You can run an ADU report the ADU is on the smartstart CD. It might also be installed on the server already.

TAke a look at the ACU user guide too. Look on page 24.
