This is an issue that has been wide spread among my new DL360 G6's and DL380 G6's. It Blue Screens after boot, but before you login to Windows. The Blue Screen doesn't have an error message, it just says "Hardware Failure, Contact HP". However, during the POST for the Array Controller it has the 0x12 error message. This is an unrecoverable failure. As far as I can tell it only happens to machines that used the Smart Start CD to set up the RAID array. Any suggestions or insight would be much appreciated.

I've already updated the firmware, and replacing the system board isn't really feasible due to fact that this issue has happened to several different machines. I find it highly unlikely that all of the system boards have failed.

I have a DL380 G6 server that was failing with array controller lockup code 0x12. HP replaced the system board and the problem persisted. We swapped every other internal part with another server except the CPUs, to no avail. Finally I experimented with removing one CPU at a time. The problem it turns out was a bad CPU in socket 1.

Great thread! We ran into the same problem this weekend with a new DL380 G6. We also had a bad processor.

Guys, I have had this issue come up every single time, it's not related to CPU nor Memory, there is a work around. The controller would lock up and of course you get the beautiful blue screen with no details.

For Windows 2k3 and 2k8, don't do a normal start, instead start the system with the last good known and this will make the server boot successfully, until HP comes up with a permanent solution, that in my opinion would be using G7 HP Servers, I can only hope the new line of G7 is way better than G6s.
