Error in diagnostics on a RA-4100 Raid

Hi, we have executed a preventive diagnostics (using the Diagnostics Utility from SmartStart 4.x) on a RA-4100 with 4 RAID-1 arrays (1 logical drive each one) and the Array Diagnostic Utility shows the following error:

-------------- Start diagnostics error --------------
ERROR:
Drive Array 3: Random Read Test: test failed, error code: 099004240
The array controller reported an error
Time of the error: 12:19:14

ERROR DETAIL:
Fatal Error = 4
-------------- End diagnostics error --------------

The question is: what corrective actions may i take to solve this error ?. Could be that the diagnostics utility have some bug ?... because the Write Random test finish without errors..

Please any advice will be appreciated!

Hi Diego,

If you want you can download and install the Compaq Array Diagnostic utility and run a report. You can then save this report and upload it to the forums here so we can take a look at it.

You can download the legacy ADU here: http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/15125.html This is the last version of the ADU that supported the RA4000 controller.

Hi Jacob, thanks for your answer but we cannot install this diagnostics program because we have installed UnixWare 7.1.x on the system using the RA-4100 (and this diag. program is Windows ) ... beside of this, the error text that i posted originaly was extracted from the test executed by the diagnostics included on the SmartStart 4.x CDROM ( shipped with the hardware ) ... any other sugestion ?

Hi Diego,

If you happen to have a SmartStart 5.x CD this has the same diagnostic tool on it. If you could boot off the SmartStart CD and run the Array Diagnostic Utility. you can then save the report to a diskette and try attaching the file to a post.
