topic Software Version Control in Server Management (Insight Manager 7)

I am having a problem with two of my servers reporting the software version status back to Insight Manager 7 sp2.1. When I move the mouse over the "blue" status I see this tooltip :
Software Version Status:Unknown Security Trust Issue.

I am not using certificates and have looked at every security configuration option I know of. The server that is running the version control manager and IM 7 is reporting it's status correclty. When I do browse to the servers software version agent I am able to see the status.

Thanks,
Chad G

Check and make sure that the VCA agent is running. You can do this by login to the Management web interface on the client ie. http://clientname:2301

IN the security option on the clients make sure that you trust either by servername or trust all if you're not using certificates.

Yes - I can look at the VCA on the local server and it will show the current version installed and also the version on the VCM. The local agent is working fine - it's just correclty updating the status with the IM 7.

Is it the same problem I was getting which was never resolved by HP? That when you go into the System Management home page on the VCA and select "Version control Agent" and "change agent settings" it fails to accept the Login Account/Password, even though you know you have used the same Account/Password many times on other servers with NO problems. I had to rebuild my server to resolve this issue, because HP never supplied a resolution to the problem.

I also encountered a few problems when installing IM7. The problem you describe was one of them, I think I got it working after a while by doing this:

In the Properties of the SNMP service on the managed server on the Security Tab add 127.0.0.1 to the "Accept SNMP packets from these hosts" section.
