I have recently installed CIM7 (SP1.2) and upgraded all my servers to the latest agents (5.5).

All of the servers are communicating with the CIM server but when I try to access the Compaq Subsystem Status information I get a HTTP status 404, not found.(Note: this is not a 200 error - rejected login)

Is there anything I have forgotten to configure or is there a problem with the software?

If anyone can give me some insight (no pun intended) that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Daniel

I get the same symptom by two means :
1- using a proxy in IE, even with local adresses properly set,
2- using agents 4.90. But then, I still can connect to the web agent 4.90.

Jerome

Hi

What is the hyperlink given by Compaq Subsystem Status information ? Does it refer to the Web Agent or to the CIM console ( some thing with port 50000 folowed by a redirection to Web Agent ) ?

Did it ever work or have you changed any SNMP settings lately ?

Vic

Thanks for the reply. THe hyperlink info is actually a redirection from the CIM server port 50000 to the managed server on port 2381. Can I change this?

I have checked that the Web Agents are running on the CIM server and they are. I have also disabled the proxy settings on my PC and still no joy.

I thought that being logged on to the managed server and trying to run the web agents would work but I am still getting the 404 Error from there as well.

Going through these forums I have noticed that I am not the only one having this problem. Is there an 'offical' insight expert out there who can give us the low down on this problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

First of all, the local SNMP settings don't have anything todo with the ability to access the Webagent or not.
They specify what you can do inside the Agents.

So what can be the possible reasons for this error 404:
1) make sure you can connect directly to the webagent (.i.e http://IP:2301), if not make sure that the Compaq Webagent service is started
2) invalid proxy settings on the local IE browser; make sure that you bypass the proxy for local addresses AND enter those addresses in the list
3) invalid IE security settings f.i. make sure to accept cookies
4) try another version of the browser, especially IE6.0 has known problems with CIM7
5) make sure there isn't a DNS issue in CIM7. Can the CIM7 server resolve the device's name? If not, goto 'Settings-Security-Device' and select 'Use device IP-address' instead of their names.

Reply back to this message if you have tried all above and it still doesn't work.
Regards,

Gert Luyten - Authorized Compaq Instructor (CIMx, Systems Management,...)

I had this problem way back in May. The answer is to specify IP address instead fo DNS names. What tends to happen is that DNS query tines out hence the 404. I changed my setting to resolve via ip address and the problem vanished.

jamie

I have the same problem.
I can't access http://IP:2301 locally or remote.
I have made sure that the config is correct (matching other servers which works perfectly) and that all services are started.
Nothing help and nothing is apparently logged anywhere.

My agent versions are 6.20.

Management using SNMP works fine. It's just HTTP which fails.
Any ideas?

Hi Daniel,
How do you have your SNMP communities??? setup?
If you are accepting SNMP queries only from certain hosts (which is a good security measure), you have to make sure you have the loop back, 127.0.0.1 in there.

Also it is a good idea to use dns names in the snmp communities, in case you want to move your insight management server to another subnet.

Mark.
