Uwe,

There's also the issue of the version of the agents that you're running. What version are you using, and is the web agent running on the target machines?

Brent

Does anyoneone have the issue where you cannot clear down an ASR through the auto recovery link. This is accessed through The link off of the device page of a given NODE [Compaq Subsystem Status Information (using SNMP)]

Thanks

John,

There are a few things I would check. First, are you logged in as an administrator? Second, make sure that on the target machines, you have SNMP sets enabled. Also, check your SNMP community & control string settings. SNMP strings are all case sensitive, and you'd be better off using upper case when identifying trap destinations by their NetBios (WINS) names. Make sure that everyone is using the same control string (shouldn't be public or private) and on the security tab, make sure that the machine is set up to allow traps from itself first. This is done by using the loopback IP address (127.0.0.1). It it very important that this is first. Then, put the NetBios name of the CIM server after that. Give these a shot and if it still doesn't work, let me know.

Brent

Brent
Thanks for the reply, all of what you mentioned is true and set correctly in the environment including local host resolution, however we are using a wide variety of agent versions due to the high volume of servers managed.
John,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I'm curious, what's the rationale for using different versions? Is it simply a matter of convenience, or is there a real method to the madness? Also, what is a "high volume"? We have about 120 NT servers that we manage, and I had to touch each machine individually, before I was able to get them all set up properly. Now, if I want to update the agents, I just have to create a query and a task, and it's all done automatically. If your reason for not upgrading them is just because it's difficult to get each server up to date manually (which it is) keep in mind that by doing it now, you're saving yourself alot of time down the line. I'd imagine that the old agents are a good part of the problem that you're seeing here.

Brent

Hello Brent, John,

I got the same problem. There is no button to mark entries as repaired in the insight log. SNMP strings, communities, and accounts are correct. I use a local administrator account on the IM7 machine to access IM7, and it's an IM7 administrator account. Is this sufficient ?

I had the same issue with the ASR button, and it was due to old agents, and SNMP sets. Could also be due to an older BIOS version - maybe Brent has more "Insight" on this.
