I would like to know if anyone knows how to update a Custom Software Baseline? I assume it is done via the VCRM, but I cannot find anything about how to do it.

Also, is there any way to automatically update all of the the Version Control Agents my servers to reference a specific Custom Software Baseline?

Thanks Much

DeWayne Gibson

Yes and Yes. To update all your servers, simply update one client and use that as a reference. To do this, create a group configuration task and then chose the refernce client that you configured. with the correct parameters, then run this task on all your servers or create a query and include only the devices that you need updated.

Jandice,

In a previous thread you stated that the proper way to update my servers via IM7 was to create a control task that deploys a Custom Software Baseline to all of my servers. My understanding of what you recommended was to update the Software Baseline if more or new components needed to be updated on the servers. Can you tell me if it is possible to update the Baseline, or does it have to be recreated?

Thank You

DeWayne Gibson

I'm going to answer my own question here in case anyone else is interested. I called HP Support and was told that the software does not have the capability to update the baseline. He could not give me a good reason why this is so.

His recommendation to update the baseline is to manually edit the XML file that is created when you create the baseline. As I don't know anything about XML programming, this is a dead end for me.

Thanks

DeWayne

You can't update an existing baseline, you have to create a new one.

As for why - to be honest, nobody has asked for this before. It does sound like a good idea though - we'll definately consider it for a future release.
