I have the same problem and our servers are DL380 G2's, so I don't have iLo in them.

No matter what I configure or update, I can't get the MP column to be anything but blue. Also, IM7 never discovers the board on it's own. If I do a manual discovery, I can see the RiLoe II board, but only as a separate device. I have tried on three servers with the same result.

Can someone who as one working properly please post all the config data for their Riloe II board? There must be something that I'm missing and don't know enough to change.
What about firmware on the board?

Which brings up another question.
Hello,

I have a number of server configured in CIM7 SP2 which have RILOE II cards installed. However the management processor column in the device view always shows up as blue. They are DL380 G3 servers and have been built with smart start 6.40. The servers themselves are reporting okay.

What do I need to configure in order to get the reporting working (i.e riloe ii settings, snmp settings on the server itself).

Thanks in advance.

Hello -

ON the server where the RIB board is installed, go to control Panel and open the HP agement Agents. You will see the icon for it. Un der the Services tab, Make sure the Remote Insight Information agent is active. If it is not in the active Agents window, select it and click on add to make it active. When you're done, click on ok. A prompt will come up and ask you to restart the Management agents. Click on yes. When that is done, go to your IM7 server and run the following tasks:

Daily device identification
SNMP Status for Servers
SNMP status for non servers.

et me know how you make out.

James,

Are you sure these are RILOE II Boards, the DL380 G3 comes with ILO.

In order to get them green I went through the following steps.
Connect the ILO Port to a part of your Network that can respond to DHCP.
Use IM and go to the Server that houses the ILO and under the Recovery Section go to Integrated Lights Outs and the Select the Embedded Controller.
This will show the IP Address the ILO has obtained.
Browse to that and login to Administrator using the password provided.
At this point I set the IP Address of the ILO to an address within the range my IM polls for.
Rerun Auto-Discovery and the Device should populate with separate entries for the ILOs themselves and will also flag the MP Dot on the Server with the ILO Cards.
Jadrise and Bob thanks for your replies.

Firstly, yes the management agents have the remote insite agent information active. The daily device indentification and snmp polling has run this morning.

Secondly, our standard build includes riloe II cards even though the server has an iLO. The riloe cards have a static IP. I have also added the card itself into CIM. This card comes up under networking and has a "green" hardware status. The name however seems to be the first part of its IP address. The server still does not show the management processor (it has a green status in the management agents on the server itself).

Just to note I do not run discovery tasks. Each device is being manually added.

Hi,

I'm just wondering if you are able to perform all the regular functions in your RILOE? I think you have a pretty unique situation if you are installing them into servers that already have iLo's. Are you disabling anything on the iLo side? I don't know if you've tried the iLo's yet or not, but I did think they performed better then the RILOE or RILOE II's did.

I think IM is getting confused because there are two management processors on your server. It probably is marking the iLo with the blue dot in the servers MP column. It then sees the Riloe II board separately and marks it as green. If you have not already done so, I would try disabling as much of the iLo as possible. I wonder if any of the jumper settings will completely disable it for you? I haven't checked the documentation for this, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was possible.

Jeff

James -

I agree with Jeff, You may need to disable the ILO board. SInce the agent will try to report both of them.

If you mean under HP management agents, the answer is yes. I've tried a lot of things and none of them help. In Classical CIM I am able to click on Recovery >> Remote Insight and see all the RiLoe II information. However, on an identical server, I get enumeration errors when I pull up the Remote Insight info.
I'm really starting to think this is voodoo.

Jeff, the ilo reports as being disabled in the bios when booting the servers (I have the same problem on a DL580 G2 as well). Also it doesn't show up as an option in the management agents (except under the system board components). I have now got two servers working!!!. I'm trying to work out what settings I need to use to replicate this to the rest of them.

I think I've found the solution to my particular problem. It was down to the way I had put entries for the riloe II boards in CIM. I use the option to manually add the machines and had locked the device type to remote access device when I added them. I have now deleted the entries and put them back in without the lock and unknown as the device type and they now get detected as management processors and the name changed from just the rib board to rib board in server.
