Procurve 8000M Slow Network Problem

I have a 8000M with a mixture of 10/100BaseT modules and 100 Base FX Modules. If I plug a file server into the 10/100 Module and my PC into the same module it works just fine. If I plug my PC into another Switch(Procurve 2524) which is connected to the 8000M via fibre it seems to run very slowly.

Any ideas???

Are both switches running the latest version of the code?

Is there a lot of other traffic on the link between the two switches? A 100 FX link is not much of a link or is that a typo and it is really 1000?

Is there a duplex/flow control mismatch on the link or possibly on the 2524 to PC link?

Hi,

It can be a problem of auto-negociation. If The fiber port on the HP8000 and HP2524 are in auto-negociation you must put the two in 100 Full duplex forced.

It can be a problem with the negociation of the 10/100 ports on the 2524. Try to force the LAN card of your PC and the 2524 port in the same negociation mode.

Otherwise try to look for the last firmware on HP site for the two switchs.
